Paul Edattel
Paul Edattel joined Todd Strategy in the summer of 2018. Prior to joining Todd Strategy, Paul served as Chief Counsel for Health for the House Energy and Commerce Committee under Chairman Greg Walden – leading the committee’s efforts on the broad array of health issues under its jurisdiction, including Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, 340B, FDA, pandemic response, and other public health policy. Paul started with Energy and Commerce in 2011 under the leadership of Chairman Fred Upton and was elevated to Chief Counsel for Health in 2016. He also previously served Speaker John Boehner as his health policy advisor. Paul also served as a Legislative Director for Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona.
In his time on Capitol Hill, Paul lead or was centrally involved in the major pieces of bipartisan health legislation of the past several years. These laws include the 21st Century Cures Act, the FDA Reauthorization Act of 2017, the Drug Quality and Security Act, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, and the extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare extenders, and public health extenders included in the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. Paul also spearheaded staff efforts on Congress’ effort to rewrite the nation’s mental health laws, as well as its major efforts to combat the opioid crises – the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 and SUPPORT Act of 2018.
Before his tenure on Capitol Hill, Paul worked for former Secretary of Education Bill Bennett and 1996 GOP vice presidential nominee Jack Kemp at Empower America. He also worked as a regulatory consultant at Beveridge & Diamond PC. Paul received his B.A in Political Science from the University at Buffalo.
