Peter Oppenheim
Peter Oppenheim joined Todd Strategy Group as a Principal in 2024 and advises clients on education, workforce, labor, and health policy.
Prior to joining TSG, he served as General Counsel and Education Policy Director for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, advising both Chairman Lamar Alexander and Ranking Member Richard Burr on all legal and policy matters within the Committee’s jurisdiction. During his time on the HELP Committee, he played a leading role in advancing mamjor pieces of legislation including Every Student Succeeds Act, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Bipartisan Studen Loan Certainty Act of 2013. He was also a lead staff negotiator in crafting pandemic-related education provisions and funding included in the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
Peter was also nominated by the President and unanimously confirmed by the Senate as Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education, where he managed congressional engagement, advanced nominees through the confirmation process, and supported key legislative initiatives on behalf of the Administration.
Peter received his B.A. from Colby College and his J.D., cum laude, from The American University Washington College of Law.
